Sunshine and fog.
Weird to see them at the same time, isn't it? I was fogged in this morning.. normally there's something to see from my porch, but today it was just bright haze.
I've been worked up and stressed up, hurrying to finish a project. But now -- it's vacation time! Woot!
Tomorrow my husband and I depart for Miami, there to embark on a cruise. Days in which there is nothing more important than the next mealtime. Mmmm.
I've only been trying out Project 365 for a few days, but I've already learned some interesting tidbits.
Each day I have to pick just one picture. Which one came out the best in my opinion? I force myself to delete the ones not-quite-in-focus. (They looked so nice in my head.)
I find I tend to look more at composition than at lighting and color -- probably because I once took some drawing classes in college. When you're making the picture up yourself you can "fix" the lighting and color to be whatever you want, but you're pretty much stuck with your composition choice. Now I have to toss out the ones with nice composition but washed-out white balance.
The best, though, are the surprises. Today's picture was a one-shot chance on my way through the parking lot this morning. I must have taken a dozen attempts at a sunset-shadowed tree with a planet visible through the lace of its branches. Alas, no tripod or fences handy. But I like this one the best -- it's like a little story, right there, in a moment.
I read on June's blog about Project 365, where you take a picture every day. It sounds like something interesting to do. I'm likely to try for a little while and give it up, but my family would enjoy seeing these, so it's worth a try.
I like the concept of documenting your life, especially with digital images. I'm a packrat by nature. Every time I move I have to struggle with myself to get rid of things I really don't need, but am reluctant to toss. My childhood stuffed animals. Programs from high school plays. Greeting cards. Urgh. With a camera, I can be nostalgic and still cram all my memories onto a little thin DVD for safekeeping. Well, two to be safe.
